Origin of World Leprosy Day:

In 1954, French philanthropist Raoul Follerean (1903-1977) lawyer, in order to arouse people to treat leprosy patients with tolerance, respect their personality and freedom, and encourage and help them get close to other patients.

The same treatment and life marked the beginning of the establishment of the "International Leprosy Festival" in Paris (last Sunday in January of each year).

He tirelessly made 32 round-the-world trips and visited 102 countries on 5 continents. With his enthusiasm, great compassion, and eloquent IZl talent, he lobbied heads of countries, entrepreneurs, and people to encourage people. Do something for the leper and urge the government to implement it.

Since 1966, he has successively advocated the establishment of the European Federation of Leprosy Relief Societies (ELF.P) and the International Federation of Leprosy Relief Societies (ILEP).

In 1996, the World Health Organization decided to take the last Sunday of January every year as the International Leprosy Festival. The purpose is to let the world know that leprosy can be cured. The past fears and discrimination against leprosy patients can no longer continue. Give a helping hand.

The annual International Leprosy Festival, organized by the member states of the International Leprosy Relief Association, has quickly won the support of people all over the world and the recognition and response of governments from all over the world.

So far, more than 150 countries and regions have held celebrations around the world. Thus becoming a global holiday.

In 1996, the Ministry of Health hereinafter referred to it as "World Leprosy Day", and issued the theme of our country every year, and celebration activities to maintain leprosy prevention and care and caring for leprosy patients were widely carried out in various places.
